Developing the Whole Young Man
Project Alpha is one of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity's most widely recognized national programs, developed in partnership with the March of Dimes and focused on the health, personal development, and responsible decision-making of young men. Launched nationally in 1980, the program emerged in response to rising rates of teen pregnancy, substance use, and health disparities disproportionately affecting African American youth. Project Alpha addresses those challenges head-on through honest, brother-led conversations.
Xi Tau Lambda Chapter delivers Project Alpha workshops in middle and high schools throughout North Dallas County. Our brothers facilitate sessions covering sexual health and responsibility, substance awareness, peer pressure, mental health, and what it means to be a man of character and purpose. The program is designed to be relatable and real — brothers share their own experiences and journeys alongside evidence-based health education.
The impact is measurable. Young men who participate in Project Alpha consistently report greater confidence, clearer values, and a stronger sense of personal accountability. Xi Tau Lambda is committed to expanding the program's reach — because every young man in North Dallas deserves access to the kind of mentorship that changes the trajectory of a life.
