An Evening of Legacy & Impact
The Alpha Legacy Scholarship Gala is the signature annual fundraising event of the Xi Tau Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., produced in partnership with the Sankofa Foundation of Dallas/Fort Worth.
Each year, brothers, community leaders, corporate sponsors, and friends gather for an elegant evening of dinner, entertainment, and celebration — all in support of North Dallas County's brightest young scholars. Proceeds fund scholarships and youth mentoring programs that have opened doors for hundreds of students since the event's founding.
The gala honors the founding principle of Alpha Phi Alpha: that education and service are the highest expressions of brotherhood. It is our most visible commitment to that ideal.

The Alpha Legacy Scholarship Gala is a collaborative effort between Xi Tau Lambda Chapter and the Sankofa Foundation of Dallas/Fort Worth — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that grew directly out of our chapter's work.
In 1995, Xi Tau Lambda was one of just 15 chapters nationwide selected to receive a W. K. Kellogg Foundation grant to pioneer the Sankofa Project — a groundbreaking teen male mentoring and rites of passage initiative. To ensure its long-term sustainability, the Xi Tau Lambda Foundation (now operating as the Sankofa Foundation of DFW) was established as a separate nonprofit to carry that mission forward.
Today, the Sankofa Foundation administers the scholarship programs that the Gala makes possible, ensuring that funds raised go directly to students across North Dallas County.
